Program/Project Coordinator
Under general supervision, the Program Coordinator plans, implements, manages and evaluates community programs in the SLKDDM Kenema Office, and performs related duties as required.
Class Characteristics
This classification is characterized by having principal responsibility for development and delivery of programs in support of community services through the SLKDDM Kenema Office. Incumbents act as the primary community contact point for programs. Assignments and objectives are generally outlined; work is performed with a high degree of independence. This position is distinguished from the Program Coordinator by its responsibility for managing established programs that have been identified as a priority of the department, and for supervision and training of a significant number of staff assigned to the programs.
Incumbents of positions in this classification work primarily in an office environment, with extensive use of the telephone and computers and considerable contact with the public.
Duties
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Administer one or more established program areas
- Assume direct responsibility for program design and implementation
- Authorize modifications to existing programs and develop proposals for new programs
- Oversee day-to-day program operations
- Assign and monitor the work of individuals who lead support groups and counsel with clients
- Complete intake evaluations, utilization reviews and client summaries
- Develop and present training programs
- Conduct meetings with community groups, employers, service providers and/or members of the community
- Serve as liaison to citizen advisory bodies
- Prepare and monitor program budgets
- Research potential grant opportunities and write grant proposals
- Develop and implement program market strategies including print media and public events
- Coordinate programs with community service providers
- Perform outreach/public speaking activities to promote program(s) in the community
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with District Offices/Departments, hospitals, health care professionals, family services providers and the community-at-large
- Maintain program documentation; prepare written and statistical reports
- Supervise substantial numbers of service and/or clerical staff, interns and volunteers
- Participate in meetings as required
